Masterclass | Coffee & Cup

An intensive, focused operational experience exploring primitive, unmediated construction methodologies. Working exclusively with wild clay and natural stoneware, participants investigate the genesis of an everyday functional vessel using intuitive gestures—such as pinching, coiling, and pressing—without the aid of molds or mechanical wheels.
  • Core Inquiry: The architecture of the everyday vessel. The session analyzes how variations in rim thickness, weight distribution, and tactile texture deeply influence the sensory act of drinking, discovering form through direct manual pressure.
  • What's Included: Native wild clays, natural stoneware, specialized manual tools, professional guidance, raw firing, and a curated specialty coffee tasting session.
  • Eligibility: Open to anyone looking to slow down and experience raw materiality through a rigorous manual process. No prior ceramic experience required.
  • Format: Single collective session × 3 hours. Small group format (maximum 6 participants). Conducted in person at the Milan Atelier. Check the Event Calendar for available dates (Friday 14:30–17:30 or Thursday 9:30–12:30).
  • Prerequisite Note: Finished artifacts will be available for collection within 3–4 weeks. Each vessel represents a unique material trace; structural anomalies and surface asymmetry are to be understood as intentional signs of the process, not defects.

MANUELA METRA
