One of the most frequently asked questions during the lessons of art is: “Why do not we listen to some music?”
In our time, most disorders and illnesses are attributed to breathing. Ispiration and expiration are not in harmony. With the inspiration I bring into the world, with expiration I bring the inner world outward. The flow of the inner and outer worlds are not in equilibrium. Artistic activity, specifically watercolor veils, acts on the middle part, balancing the life of feeling.
The technique of watercolor veils according to Rudolf Steiner’s method requires a lot of patience and attention. You can get impossible nuances otherwise, you can intensify, mix the color, veil after veil. It is a technique that starts from the light, and remaining in the light allows to meet the essence of color. This coming in and out, veil after veil, waiting for the paper to dry out perfectly, is like an inspiration and expiration free from the syncopated rhythms in which we live and free from the excessive stimuli to which our senses are subjected. This technique rhythmizes, the brush stroke is to be controlled, as well as the amount of water, the color is prepared in dilution and the sheet is laid out the night before with a particular technique. Already the preparation of the lesson has its own pace that must be respected. In this work, like in other artistic forms I propose: drawing and modeling with clay, music is a distraction and an overload for the senses that are already bombarded by stimuli. In silence you focus on what you do, and listen to what you do …..
