Because sometimes it’s really nice to fall in love with the light that in the morning gathers a bowl and to be enchanted. This rough red clay is another impossible undertaking of mine. I love challenging the limits of the matter, then needless to complain if the clay doesn’t want to go where I tell it to go. But in this tension between idea and reality, between my emotion and everyday life, all my artistic work is played. So, I said, this beautiful red clay from sculpture dyes everything of a beautiful red iron, dirty the instruments in a hellish way and gives wonderful surfaces rich in heat. You can’t ask her to be very fine, you can’t even ask her to go into too much detail. It loves to stay in thick thicknesses, in irregular edges and, possibly, loves austere glazes. I have not yet understood what character it has, sometimes there are still surprises. But when things work the result really leaves you speechless …
