Crafting Your Identity: Beyond Strawberries and Cream

Self-branding often feels like an imperative in navigating life’s urban jungle, transcending beyond mere professionalism. What might seem optional post-school or during casual conversations becomes an essential mandate in the professional realm. But how does one navigate this maze of self-branding?

Choosing an image to portray oneself appears to be a logical decision, much like picking one color over another. Yet, in this microcosm and macrocosm of choices, it extends beyond attire or event organization; it reflects on who we truly are. To initiate this process, one must detach from fleeting trends, societal influences, and even the well-intended advice of peers or family—creating a vacuum within our acquired ideas and preconceptions. A daunting yet heroic task.

From this void, the quest begins: Who am I? What resonates with me? What feels effortless? What are my talents? Which colors define me? What propels me forward? What narrative do I wish to convey? These questions, while seemingly profound, unveil the crux of our existence, especially if time were a finite commodity.

Connecting the image we present with our authentic beliefs, betting on our unaltered self, becomes a radical yet liberating alternative to the superficial portrayal of society. In a competitive world, most opt for a facade, but there’s potency in embracing completeness and a sense of identity—akin to Morpheus’s red pill in ‘The Matrix.’

Aligning actions with individuality allows us to truly be individuals. As Schiller suggests, authenticity emerges when we engage in the play of life. Art becomes the vessel for this grand journey, rediscovering the unity lost along life’s pathways. Through this artistic exploration, we encounter ourselves, shaping a brand that’s authentic, resilient, and transcends passing trends—much like the timeless allure of strawberries and cream.
